|We are pleased to invite you all to our extended meeting with a special guest Bhaktimarga Swami, also known as the Walking Monk! This meeting will be held in English.
Date: Sunday, April 21st
Time: 10:00 am
Location: Theosophical Society Toronto
Bhaktimarga Swami is a well-known spiritual leader in North America with a fantastic personality. His wisdom, warmth, and great sense of humor make every interaction with him a joyful and enlightening experience.
During this special event, Bhaktimarga Swami will be sharing his insights on the topic “Just Adjust”. We can speculate that the conversation will go about how to be a spiritualist in this materialistic world. Bhaktimarga Swami’s speeches are always inspiring and engaging.
Although Bhaktimarga Swami is based in Toronto, he rarely stays “home,” traveling worldwide with his preaching programs. Don’t miss this rare chance to hear from him live!
The event begins at 10:00 am with Vedic music and mantras, followed by Bhaktimarga Swami’s insightful talk and an interactive Q&A session. Then, we’ll have a short kirtan session, followed by a flavorous vegetarian feast and friendly heart-to-hearts.
BHAKTIMARGA SWAMI, born in Chatham, Ontario, Canada, is also known as THE WALKING MONK for having trekked FOUR TIMES across Canada. Keeping with the spirit of pilgrimage, he also crossed the USA, Israel, Ireland, Guyana, Trinidad, Mauritius, and the Fiji Islands. Documentation of his Canadian walks is found in two films: The Longest Road, by the National Film Board of Canada, and Walking: The Lessons of the Road, by Michael Oesch.
As a youth, Bhaktimarga Swami was a student of fine arts, but took to the life of a Hare Krishna monk at age 20 in 1973. Although pursuing monastic ways, he maintains artistic expression through several mediums. As a playwright, he produces and directs avant-garde productions based on themes from the Vedic epics of India. Wherever he travels, he engages talented local youth as the productions’ actors, dancers, choreographers, and technical crews.
During the pandemic, live theater wasn’t an option, so Bhaktimarga Swami took to creating two short films – Grandsire and The Embassy that garnered several international film awards.
In 2022 Swami released his highly-anticipated first publication, The Saffron Path: Trekking the Globe with The Walking Monk, detailing his adventures and insights as an international marathon walker.
The Walking Monk is also an instructor of bhakti yoga, a leader of musical mantra meditation called kirtan, and a speaker on the science of the self-based on the ancient teachings of the Gita.
